GOAL

FlowingData offers a monthly ‘Visualize This’ challenge to uncover multiple ways to visualize a given dataset. The August 2019 challenge was ‘Reasons for Moving’ from the Current Population Survey (Table A-5). The goal was to visualize the data using any software.

WHAT I DID

• Cleaned the dataset in Excel

• Designed a custom infographic highlighting key findings using Tableau and Sketch

• Created an animated Bar Chart Race in Flourish

VISUALIZATIONS

I illustrated how migration patterns changed (or remained constant) over time and which factors have increased over the years via rank (most popular reasons).
